It hurts to love. Last night we lost our cat, Kali, who has been with us for 15 years. Now, most of the time we think, "how bad can that be, it was just a cat." Well, when you love a pet, invest time, energy and caring in it, when they come to the end of their short little lives, it leaves a hole. Loving anyone human or animal means that you risk losing them. It would be easier to never love and therefore never hurt...but at what cost. I would rather risk losing, than never love at all.
